Professional curator Justin Giarla and owner of the internationally known art galleries "The Shooting Gallery" and "White Walls" teamed up with professional technology officer and business woman Amanda Rains in the winter of 2003 an launched a new art book publishing enterprise. The enterprise is called "9mm Books" (pronounced 9 millimeter books) to harmonize with the edgy art of The Shooting Gallery.

We co-published our first book "Tiki Art Now!" with Last Gasp in 2004. Then in 2005 we went solo and published the following books.

In the fall of 2006 we contracted with a distributor to represent us in the "regular trade book" market. We learned that small run contemporary art book publishing companies such as 9mm Books are not compatible with the high volume consumer oriented regular trade book distribution system. The ultimate margins are too just to thin accompanied with hidden losses, rampant damages to books and loss of market price controls. We terminated our relationship with the distribution system in the summer of 2008.

So now we are exclusively selling direct to consumers on our web site at competitive prices.
